Before 1969 Sudden Valley was nothing more than a Ranch owned by Glen and Betty Corning. It started out as a lakeside resort but is now the 4th largest populated area in Whatcom County. The houses range in size and style from adorable a-frames to pacific northwest style architecture. This is where we first moved when we came to Bellingham and we loved it! There are so many fantastic tiny parks and over ten acres of hiking trails within the community. Little Strawberry Park is one of my favorites because of the pretty creek that runs through it. AM/PM has a sandy beach to sit on and numerous other parks that have swings and playsets for the kiddos.

The Valley also has an 18 hole golf course, pool, basketball and tennis courts. You think of an activity and they have it! This is an outdoorsy person’s dream location. You can wake up, hike a trail that practically runs through your backyard, and have your kayak out on Lake Whatcom within 5 mins of leaving your house. If you somehow make it through every trail through the neighborhoods, you can up your game and try out Stimpson Family Nature Reserve with over 4 miles of beautiful trails, or Lookout Mountain Forest Preserve that has a nice spot to picnic near a waterfall.

“Outdoorsy Person’s Dream Location”

When you work up an appetite and don’t feel like cooking Tino’s is right down the street for some pizza and El Agave is right on the golf course for some Mexican food. If you forgot milk, sugar or etc. Valley Market has you covered. They even have a pretty extensive beer cave and carry a variety of cheeses for unexpected guests that pop by.

Let’s talk about the flora and fauna…the cutest deer ever, owls in your back yard, fluffy squirrels, chipmunks, loads of trees and ferns, overall making this a great spot to snag your first or forever home!
